Interiors inspiration

 

So how did it all begin? Susan Troy, owner and founder of The Stylish Dog Company, explains:

"I had always been interested in interior design and property, and following a 15 year career in marketing and pr, I branched out into renovating old properties. During that time I also sold houses and noticed that many sellers who owned dogs would hide their dogs' things when prospective buyers came round for a viewing because they thought they looked unsightly in their nice homes.

 

"Then in 2009 my partner and I moved to a Grade II listed house located in a little village in Surrey that required total renovation. By that time we had two dogs, an Irish Red and White Setter called Ruby, and Alfie, a Cocker Spaniel cross who we rescued from the animal charity Many Tears.

 

"While decorating the house, I wanted to find products for the dogs that would complement the different parts, from the 15th century living room to the new kitchen / conservatory extension. Our dogs are our family and we also wanted to have the best quality products for them so that they were as comfortable as us in our new home. I soon found out how impossible it was to find stylish, quality items for dogs that would look also good in the home. While searching the internet I discovered makers who were offering good quality products, but not always for dogs – and not always in the fabrics or colour schemes that I wanted.

 

"That's when I realised there was a great opportunity to create one destination where you could buy bespoke, luxury products for your dog that also complement the style of your home. And, following many meetings with small businesses based all over the UK, The Stylish Dog Company was born!"
