Please take care when choosing the width of your dog’s collar. Our collars are available in 3 width sizes of 3/4″, 1″ , and 1 1/4 ” wide (this being a very wide collar).
All dogs vary in size and even between breeds. Here is a guide to measuring your dog for a perfect fit of their collar. Please note that these collars may not be suitable for toy breeds or smaller breeds as the padded leather may be too heavy for their neck. In these instances our puppy range of soft cowhide collars are a better choice.
Half check collars are designed to not close around your dog’s neck, they are designed to offer more control over a larger stronger dog who could slip the collar. This is why we take the measurement of your dog’s neck and not the measurement of the collars.
HOW TO MEASURE
- Ideally you will need a flexible tape measure, but you could use a piece of string and then measure that.
- Place around your dogs neck, where the collar would naturally sit.
- You are looking for a snug fit not a tight one. This will give you the length you require.
- If the measurement is between sizes then opt for the larger size.
