The Black Softee is a deeply calming bed for dogs who need to feel truly held when they sleep. Pure black chinchilla-soft faux fur — rich, dense and deeply stuffed — covers every surface inside and out, and the raised donut sides create the gentle enclosed shape that anxious, nervous or sensitive dogs instinctively settle into. The 360-degree bolster wraps around them as they rest, replacing the low-level stress of feeling exposed with the quiet security of feeling safe. Care instructions
Can be washed in the machine on a 30 degree delicates wash and spin. Once out of the machine give the bed a good shake and dry naturally. Manipulate the stuffing whilst drying, every few hours. Give the bed a good shake once dry.
They will stay fabulously soft time after time.
These beds should be kept away from heat. Do not tumble dry.
Can be dry cleaned. For larger beds we recommend dry cleaning.

Donut bed filling - good to know!
The beds are deeply stuffed. This means they are suitable for all dogs. With use, the padding will sink slightly as it becomes more compressed. For this reason the beds arrive very full to counteract this and always provide a deeply stuffed and comfortable bed. A shake will fluff the bed up every now and again and after washing. If your dog is light, you may want to press the bed down slightly so they sink in quicker. Alternatively if you want it much more "squidgy" rather than stuffed, let us know in a note at checkout. The beds are made to order so we can take out some stuffing if required.

The faux fur pile is approximately 2.5cm long and covers both the interior sleeping area and the raised bolster sides in the same deep black pile throughout. The well-stuffed donut sides create the enclosed, nest-like shape that calms anxious dogs — whether yours curls tight inside or drapes themselves over the bolster, the experience is the same enveloping, supported, deeply comfortable rest. The non-slip faux suede base is colour-matched in black and keeps the bed firmly in place on hard floors.
Does the donut shape actually help anxious dogs? Yes — the raised 360-degree rim replicates the physical sense of security dogs experienced sleeping curled against their mother and litter mates. That feeling of being gently surrounded rather than exposed reduces stress hormones, encourages slower breathing and promotes longer, more restorative sleep. It is particularly effective for puppies, rescue dogs, and dogs that are sensitive to noise, movement or being left alone.
What size Black Softee do I need? XS (50cm) for toy breeds — Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Mini Dachshund. S (60cm) for small dogs up to around 10kg — Jack Russell, Pug, Westie, Cairn Terrier, King Charles Spaniel. M (70cm) for Beagles, Cocker Spaniels and French Bulldogs. L (80cm) for medium to large dogs including smaller Labradors and Collies. XL (100cm) for larger breeds. Measure your dog curled up and allow for the bolster sides.
Is it machine washable? Yes. The whole bed washes at 30 degrees on a cool delicate cycle. Dry naturally away from heat — no tumble dryer. Manipulate the stuffing as it dries, give it a shake when done. Returns perfectly soft every time.
A matching black faux fur blanket is available separately — practical for keeping the sofa protected and beautiful as a coordinated set with the bed.
