Bolster dog bed FAQs

What is a bolster dog bed? A bed with raised, cushioned sides (bolsters) that act as a headrest and backrest, ideal for dogs who curl up or like to lean while they sleep.

Are bolster beds good for dogs who like to curl up? Yes. The raised, cushioned walls give them something to lean against and rest their head on.

What size bolster dog bed do I need?

Measure your dog curled up in their usual sleeping position, because on a bolster bed the walls do the holding. If your dog is between two sizes, take the larger one. The Size guide on each product page gives the measurements, for example the Anti-Bacterial Grey Snuggle Dog Bed lists the inside of the small as about 42 x 35 x 11cm.

Can you machine wash a bolster dog bed?

Most of our bolster beds have machine-washable covers, and the Dogtooth Slumber Dog Bed can go in the washing machine whole. Wash covers cool, around 30 degrees, and air dry them. Check the product page, as washing varies between makers.

Is there a waterproof bolster dog bed?

Yes, the Trojan Cosy Waterproof Dog Bed has a fully waterproof ballistic nylon outer and a raised bolster edge for dogs that like to lean or rest their head. Brush off dirt and sponge the outer with warm water, or machine wash at 30 degrees. It is made in Yorkshire.

Where are your bolster dog beds made?

Many are made in the UK by Danish Design, a family-run company that has made dog beds in Leeds, Yorkshire since 1981. The Trojan Cosy Waterproof Dog Bed is made in Yorkshire, and the Cosy wool bolster beds come from a working mill in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Each product page says where it is made.
