The Bowmore Sand Slumber Dog Bed by Danish Design is a high-sided bolster bed pairing a brushed wool-effect neutral check in sand and dark tones with a luxurious boucle loop-knit mattress — made in the UK and filled with 100% recycled fibre from plastic bottles. Warm, textured and quietly sophisticated, it is a bed that looks as considered as it is comfortable.

The Bowmore collection brings two premium fabrics together in one bed. The outer bolster sides are made from a brushed wool-effect check in a warm neutral sand palette with dark highlights. The removable base mattress uses a two-sided creamy off-white and petrol blue-grey boucle fabric — a looped-knit material more commonly associated with premium upholstered furniture. Made at Danish Design’s Leeds factory, this is a UK-made bed from a family-run company with over forty years of experience.

The filling throughout is 100% recycled PET fibre — made from recycled plastic bottles and processed at the Danish Design factory into a soft, warm, thermal fibre. It is fire retardant to British Standard 5852. The polyester filling does not absorb water, so the bed dries quickly after machine washing.

Is the Bowmore Sand Slumber Bed machine washable?
Yes. Both the outer bed and the boucle mattress can be machine washed on a cool wash. The mattress is removable for quick cleaning between full washes. The boucle and checked fabrics retain their texture and warmth through regular washing cycles.

What sizes are available?
The Bowmore Sand comes in Small 24″ (61cm), Medium 30″ (76cm) and Large 35″ (89cm). The 24″ suits Cocker Spaniels, Beagles and smaller breeds. The 30″ is ideal for Springer Spaniels and medium dogs. The 35″ fits Labradors, Golden Retrievers and similar larger breeds comfortably.

What is the difference between the Bowmore Sand and Bowmore Navy?
The Sand version uses warm neutral tones — cream, sand and dark highlights — giving it a lighter, more contemporary feel. The Navy version uses a richer navy and tan palette for a more classic, country aesthetic. Both use the same two-sided boucle mattress and share the same construction.

Is boucle a practical fabric for a dog bed?
Yes. Boucle is a looped-knit fabric known for being both soft and hard-wearing. It cleans well and holds its structure over time. Its texture also means it is comfortable for dogs to lie on directly, without needing a separate blanket or liner.
